After re-sizing and restarting my droplet, can no longer ssh into server

After re-sizing and restarting my machine, ssh is no longer allowing me to login.

I get a "Connection refused" error:

MacBook-Pro-2:log nba$ ssh
ssh: connect to host port 22: Connection refused

Anyone know why this might have started happening all of a sudden? I tried uninstalling/re-installing openssh-server and openssh-client as suggested in some other threads but that did not solve the problem.

  • Since a resize requires a reboot it is possible that the kernel image assigned to your droplet may no longer match the kernel installed inside it's filesystem. If you run upgrades that replace the current kernel this change does not fully take effect until you reboot the droplet. I would recommend logging in via the console in the control panel and running

    ls /lib/modules

and then ensuring that the kernel version selected for your droplet under Settings->Kernel matches the one that is listed there.
