Question

Hello, I am trying to see what is the best way to bring my wordpress sites from a tipical Godaddy Shared Hosting account into this great droplets, I want to install on them NGINX (to make them fast) and Lets Encrypt (for security) that is why I have done some research and until today I think the best way is to follow up this 3 tutorials:

  1. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-nginx-on-ubuntu-16-04 2)https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-secure-nginx-with-let-s-encrypt-on-ubuntu-16-04
  2. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-and-secure-phpmyadmin-with-nginx-on-an-ubuntu-14-04-server (only that this tutorial is for 14.04 instead of 16.04) Can somebody please instruct me on how to do it with my 16.04 version.

or it is not necesary to install phpmyadmin to import the database of my godaddy wordpress site by terminal because of my LEMP?

Is this the best way to acomplish my objetive? Of bringing my wordpress sites and install the SSLs,

Thank you,

FT

Hi,

Use Server Pilot + All in One WP migration plugin. It is fast, it is easy. I have been using this combination with Do for a long time now and it works just like that.

1st follow this guide. you’ll find all Prerequisites in that as well.

How To Install WordPress with LEMP on Ubuntu 16.04

once you have running wordpress, install this plugin. it will make easy for migrating existing site into your new setup. on top of that, i think you dont need phpmyadmin to transfer mysql if you use this plugin. https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/

also, you can import/export mysql from command line. no need phpmyadmin only for export/import. How To Import and Export Databases and Reset a Root Password in MySQL

if you want to improve site performance, must go with php7. it has significant improvement on performance over older php versions.
