Hi everyone,

I have recently set up a server using a droplet to host my mysql database on. I had spent ages trying to connect mysql Workbench to it but now can't connect it to netbeans.. I was wondering if anybody had this problem before?

Thank you!

  • Are any errors displayed when you try to connect? Since you can connect using other remote clients, without a bit more information it'd be difficult to pinpoint the reason for the connection failing.

  • mysql workbench stopped working however I am able to access my database using phpmyadmin and through my terminal.

When trying to connect using mysql workbench I get the following error:

Failed to Connect to MySQL at x.x.x.:x through SSH tunnel at x.x.x with user test

Can't connect to MySQL server on '' (61)

When trying to connect to it using Netbeans I get the following :
Cannot establish a connection to jdbc:mysql://x.x.x.x:3306/x?zeroDateTimeBehavior=convertToNull using com.mysql.jdbc.Driver (null,  message from server: "Host '' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server")

  • Can you try connecting via MySQL workbench again and seeing if it still works? I'm guessing you have a dynamic IP and MySQL doesn't know about your new IP address.

  • No luck... still getting the errors above

I can now access it using netbeans, phpmyadmin, terminal but NOT mysql workbench.... starting to wonder if there is any special settings for it to work?
