Does managed database split read load between master and read-only node?

I would like to know if adding a read-only node to the managed mysql database help with the load by splitting the select queries between servers automatically?

Thank you

I don’t think that this happens automatically, you need to either use a Load Balancer or a service like ProxySQL, or build the logic into your application.

For example if you use a framework like Laravel this is quite straight forward to implement, you could take a look at this tutorial here on how to do that:—-scaling-up-a-digitalocean-managed-mysql-database-with-read-only-nodes-(optional)
