I have recently configured the my server with postfix MTA and Gmail SMTP server. Receiving email via SMTP is working fine but, I am not able to figure out as in how to change or customize the username "root" to something desired.

I tried reconfiguration, name alias, etc. but, still no success. Please help me to resolve this issue.

Thanks in Advance.

  • Are you using virtual domains? Also, when you installed postfix and you got a prompt for the mail name, did you type in root instead of your domain name?

  • @kushal.azza - Ignore that last part of my previous comment. Instead look at /etc/aliases
