Moving DataCenters

I was just about to buy another VPS and DO has run out of IPs in Hamsterdam (The Wire reference?!?).

What are the implications of taking one in New York and then taking one in Amsterdam when IPs are available again?

Is it as simple as taking a snapshot of the US server, creating and restoring to Amsterdam one? Then just changing the DNS settings?

Does anyone know when they are gonna be available again?

Thanks all. I had a DO server that was gathering dust in Amsterdam so reused that in the end. Good to know that there is no issue with using ‘intercontinental’ snapshots should the situation arise in the future again though.

No, it should work perfectly fine.

@PabloofvDevices Thanks. To be clear, there are no issues with using US snapshots for an Amsterdam IP?
