Nameserver for .de domain (zone file needed)?

December 18, 2014 1.2k views

Hi,
I'm trying to point a .de domain (registrar namecheap) to a digitalocean droplet. Simply adding ns#.digitalocean.com as nameservers doesn't work. (I was pointed to this: http://www.denic.de/fileadmin/public/documentation/DENIC-23p_EN.pdf). Now I'm quite lost.

Anyone did this before? Help would be greatly appreciated!

  • What do you mean by "doesn't work" ? There's 13 pages in that document. A wild guess would be that you fail to meet their predelegation checks because you didn't create the zone.

  • I use .de domains with no problem. I find that they take a little extra time to propagate..sleep on it and try tomorrow.

  • There is an interactive check on http://www.denic.de/en/background/nast.html.

Changing the nameservers to ns#.digitalocean.com for any *.de domain is simply not allowed.

The interactive form generates these errors:

Error 901 Unexpected RCODE (target, entity, RCODE)
    /173.245.58.51:53
    <mydomainname>.de
    REFUSED

I don't want to use the transip API. I want to use the Digital ocean APIs to generate new DNS entries.

@gp+digitalocean: What do you mean with 'did not create the zone'? Can I resolve that? Can TransIP?

    Thanks!
