Previous droplet owner's website displaying in our sitemap!?!

WordPress DigitalOcean Ubuntu 16.04

The auto-generated (by Yoast for Wordpress) sitemap for our site on our droplet is showing a completely different hostname than our own.

(eg: beerwebsite.com instead of veterinaryoffice.ca)

I used http://whois.domaintools.com/ to lookup the mystery domain name and the report shows our Droplet's IP from DigitalOcean. (No doubt a site that previously ran on that IP address.)

But why on earth is our website's installation of the Yoast SEO plugin picking up a previous website's details and inserting them into our auto-generated XML sitemap?!

We're ending up with sitemap entries like:
beerwebsite.com/dental-care-for-dogs
beerwebsite.com/cardiology-team

This was a brand new droplet created by us from scratch and has never had any other websites on it.

  • Update:

I did a bunch of things and the matter seems to have sorted itself out. Things I did:

    • Toggled Yoast Sitemaps feature off/on a few times
    • Turned of WP Super Cache and deleted it's cache
    • Toggled Yoast Sitemaps feature off/on a few times
    • Cleared CloudFlare's cache
    • Toggled Yoast Sitemaps feature off/on a few times

Problem appears to have fixed itself.

Still at a loss as to how the old IP owner's site name appeared in my site maps but someone on Github suggested that perhaps it was in regards to the Droplet's hostname that wasn't set for the Droplet. (Reverse DNS)
