sendmail not going through to outlook, live

Hi all,

I installed sendmail on my server to send emails through php, for some reason its not going through to outlook, live or hotmail but works perfectly for gmail, yahoo etc.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • Do you have a valid PTR (reverse DNS record) and a SPF record on your DNS configuration for the domain you are sending as?

  • How would i check that?
    Thanks for the reply :)

I have the same problem using Postfix and Cyrus on Centos 6.
I've checked out DO's DNS panel and read the help tutorial there and nowhere does it
say how to place a reverse DNS record on the DNS table. Any idea where I can find out?

I have the same problem using Postfix on Centos6. Have you tried looking for the mail sent to Hotmail in the Junk folder? Works that way for me. No problems if I tell Hotmail it's not Spam.
Works with no problems on Gmail and Yahoo. does not get delivered on Bell South,
AOL, or RoadRunner. I think ryanpq is on the right track with his reverse DNS record suggestion.

  • Reverse DNS records (PTR) are created automatically based on the name you give your droplet. If your droplet's name is a valid domain or subdomain name a corresponding PTR record is created for your droplet's IP address associated with the name you chose.
