Question

What is the correct ALLOWED_HOSTS setting for django on app platform?

DjangoDigitalOcean App Platform

When I try to connect a custom domain, I’m having a problem where the ${APPDOMAIN} variable is being overwritten by the domain, and the ‘ondigitalocean.app’ domain that is generated by the system is no longer available. Is there a different way to config ALLOWEDHOSTS in order to keep both my custom domain and the assigned one?

  • I just discovered the DISABLE_COLLECTSTATIC environment variable which is hugely useful since my static and media files are hosted on spaces, and would like to know which other variables would be useful for a production django site?

  • Thanks for the reply, but I think you misunderstood my question. I was asking if theres an environment variable that grabs the ‘ondigitalocean.app’ domain so that I can add that as a secondary domain as well, but I figure I’ll probably just add that manually. What other App platform specific variables should I know about?
