I will be hosting my site on a Ubuntu 14.04 OS on my droplet.
I will also be hosting my mail server later.( I’ll be using gmail for business actually.
Some say that your hostname should be Fully Qualified Domain Name if you are going to setup a mail server later.
So should I keep my hostname as abc.com or www.abc.com ( FQDN) ?
And also is it true that droplet’s hostname can’t be changed later?
I am new to this stuff . Please guide me.

The host name of the droplet can be whatever you like, it doesn’t have to be a domain. For example:

To change the host name you need to edit /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts and then execute service hostname restart.

A server host name is normally like:

servername can be anything be it www or another name
domain.com is a domain you have registered and point at the server normally
