I'm trying to find out if digital ocean is the right tool for hosting an MMO. According to these instructions is it possible to run an unreal game. https://wiki.unrealengine.com/Dedicated_Server_Guide_(Windows_%26_Linux)

To my understanding the only way to make a game run on a listen sever is for the sever to meet perquisites of running the engine.

https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/GettingStarted/RecommendedSpecifications/index.html

Are their any other tools I could consider using similar to digital ocean but more ready for running an online unreal game.

  • .....So you're here so that people can suggest places OTHER than DigitalOcean where you could take your business? Why not just run the server on DigitalOcean?

  • Because 80 per month is a lot to start with to ensure everything works and I'm sure there are some bright minds that can give me suggestions here.

  • I would suggest using the hourly billing to its full power and not using such massive droplets to start with.

  • Why does it auto upgrade the more power I need, if not It's not the solution I'm looking for.

  • You can upgrade if you start running out of power
