Where is my website files ? newbie question

Question

Hi I am new to cloud servers. I can manage to create SSH file and connect to my root folder using my private key file. But I couldnt see where is my website files stored. What I see in FileZilla is under root : .aptitude; .cache; .composer ; .ssh

How can I access to my real files ? Can you please guide me ?

if you want to see all files in directory, try
ls -la
pwd
cd directory

I am using Filezilla where to type this commands ? I think these are for command line access right ?

Hi Akram,

There is a lot of information missing from your question.

What guide(s) did you use to get started?
What web server are you using (Apache, nginx, etc)
What kind of website are you trying to set up?

Hi Lev,

I have started with “How To Use Filezilla to Transfer and Manage Files Securely on your VPS”

Dont know previous admin set-it up.

My website is photo sharing website which is scripted in PHP Laravel.

Thanks for your quick reply. I have TeamViewer if you can help from remote.

  You might try looking in /var/www/ (Apache) or /usr/share/nginx/html (nginx) for your web files.

  The folders I typed above wouldn’t be located in the /root folder. In your viewer - top of the application - where it shows Remote site: /root, change the location to /var/www/ or /usr/share/nginx/html and see what is there.
