Scope & Service Status

  1. Preview Offering. This Preview Offering is a new high-performance tier for DigitalOcean Managed Databases, designed to support both PostgreSQL and MySQL services. It is a limited-availability release designed for testing and feedback. It is not a General Availability (GA) product. DigitalOcean is granting Customer access to a “Public Preview” of the Managed Databases “Advanced Edition” service to obtain feedback on features.
  2. Preview Pricing: Pricing will be displayed upon cluster creation based on the selected plan and allocated storage amount. DigitalOcean reserves the right to change pricing during the Preview Offering upon 30 days’ notice.
  3. Support: No formal Technical Support or Service Level Agreements (SLAs) apply. Support is provided on a reasonable-effort basis during standard business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PT, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays).
  4. No Service Level Agreements (SLAs): There are no uptime, performance, or availability guarantees. Existing DigitalOcean Database SLAs for GA-based Services do not apply to this Preview Offering.
  5. Data Durability: DigitalOcean provides no guarantees regarding data durability. Data may be lost, or services may be reset for maintenance without prior notice. You acknowledge that you are responsible for maintaining appropriate copies or backups of your data outside the Preview Offering as necessary to meet your business needs.

Ending the Public Preview

  1. You may disable the Preview Offering at any time by destroying the relevant cluster, as described in the documentation for the Preview Offering.
  2. We make no promise that the Preview Offering will continue to General Availability or that any general availability version will be unchanged from the Preview Offering. At the end of the Public Preview, we may: (i) release a generally available version of the Preview Offering, (ii) continue the Public Preview, or (iii) discontinue the Preview Offering without releasing a Generally Available version.
  3. If we release a Generally Available version of the Preview Offering, these Preview Terms will automatically terminate when its future version is released and your continued use of the Preview Offering (or its successor) will be governed by the Agreement including any new General Availability terms, which will be communicated in advance to you.
  4. If we discontinue the Preview Offering without releasing a future version, we may delete Preview Offering resources and data except as otherwise specified in the documentation or migration guidance.

ADVANCED EDITION: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why should I participate in the Preview Offering?

As a participant, you will get early access to our most advanced database platform. Your direct feedback will be critical in shaping the product’s features, functionality, and roadmap. This is an opportunity to validate the platform against your future needs and prepare for immediate adoption of its advanced capabilities once it becomes generally available.

What are some recommended use cases for the Preview Offering?

The preview is ideal for a variety of non-production activities, including:

  • Staging temporary environments for pre-production application testing.

  • Conducting performance benchmarks.

  • Validating application compatibility and exploring new configuration options.

  • Testing how day-to-day database operations impact your applications.

What features are included?

All fundamental database operations (such as create, delete, scale, backup, and failover) are supported. However, the platform is under active development, and we will be deploying updates regularly. The feature set may change, and some functionality available in our standard offering may be absent.

Can I migrate my existing database to this new platform?

No. A direct migration or in-place upgrade path from our standard platform is not available. Moving to the new platform, both now and for future releases of this Preview Offering (if any), will require a manual data migration (e.g., export/import) and will result in a new connection string.

What happens if a General Availability offering is released?

Your services will automatically transition to General Availability. Your continued use of the Preview Offering (or its successor) will be governed by the Agreement including any new General Availability terms,

How do I get started?

Participation in the Preview Offering is expressly conditioned upon acceptance of the DigitalOcean Public Preview Terms for Managed Databases Advanced Edition. You can opt-in by visiting the Feature Preview link in your cloud console by enabling the Advanced Edition and then creating a cluster with a supported plan.
