Prepayment for Resource Access. Customer may elect to make a one-time prepayment of fees (“Prepayment”) to increase account trust limits, resource quotas (e.g., Droplets or GPU units), and monthly billing thresholds. Prepayments are processed through the self-service billing portal and are applied to the Customer’s account as a credit balance.
Expiration and Consumption Period. All Prepayments expire eighteen (18) months from the date of purchase (“Consumption Period”). Any unused portion of a Prepayment that remains at the end of the Consumption Period will automatically expire and be forfeited. Forfeited credits do not roll over, and no refunds or credits will be provided for unused amounts.
No Refunds or Transfers. To the fullest extent permitted by law, all Prepayments are final, non-cancelable, and non-refundable. Prepayment credits have no cash value, are non-transferable between accounts, and may not be applied against previous unpaid balances or different product categories unless expressly authorized by DigitalOcean in writing.
Tier Progression and Qualification. Prepayments are applied toward the Customer’s “Total Lifetime Spend” for the purpose of qualifying for higher service tiers. (i) Tier Upgrades: To move to a higher tier, Customer must pay the difference between their current Lifetime Spend and the minimum threshold of the target tier. (ii) Exclusions: Promotional credits, service credits, and unpaid usage accrued prior to the Prepayment do not count toward Lifetime Spend for tier qualification.
Regional Availability and Capacity. Increase of a resource limit via Prepayment does not constitute a reservation of physical capacity. All resource creation is subject to DigitalOcean’s real-time regional capacity. Certain data centers may experience periods of “Limited Availability” where new resource creation is restricted regardless of a Customer’s account limits.
Payment Failures and Account Status. Prepayment does not waive the Customer’s obligation to pay for usage exceeding the credit balance. If a Monthly Billing Threshold is met and the primary payment method fails, DigitalOcean reserves the right to suspend account access and resource availability immediately until the balance is settled.
