Question

40GBSSD Disk , is that my limit for storing files?

Hello, i am creating a website that will need to store 100’s of HD videos to play. If each video is 1gb, does that mean i can only store 40 videos through the $20 a month package?

If thats it then it will do for the short term, but in future when more videos are uploaded, when i get to the top package of 640 GB is that the maximum limit?

Also, if that looks too complicated, consider getting a vimeo account to upload all your videos. Then just embed the vimeo videos into your web pages.

You could mount amazon s3 storage on a digital ocean droplet if you wanted to. that would give you as much storage as you’re willing to pay for.

The other answers are correct in that this is the limit of disk space on your droplet (though you can resize to a larger plan at any time). That being said, we will be releasing a new feature to address just this issue in the near future and will be starting a closed beta soon.

“SSD Disk” refers to the amount of disk space allocated to your droplet.

So on a droplet with a 40 GB SSD disk, you would be able to store 40 GB of data, including the OS.

So if you buy the 640 GB SSD disk droplet (the $640/mo plan), you would get 640 GB of storage.

Correct, the storage in the package is what you get for the operating system + your files/videos etc.
