How does it work? Is it basically a free trial period where I won’t be billed OR I can request a refund within a given time?

Hi there,

Quick update here, in case anyone comes across this question in the future. As of now, DigitalOcean has a promotional offer for new sign-ups where they provide $200 in free credit. This is an excellent opportunity for new users to try out the DigitalOcean services without any initial commitment.

Here’s how it works:

 1. Sign-Up Offer: When you sign up as a new user, you can take advantage of this offer by using the following link: DigitalOcean Free Trial Offer.

 2. Usage of Free Credits: The $200 credit can be used towards any of DigitalOcean’s services. This gives you the flexibility to explore various options like Droplets, Managed Databases, Managed Kubernetes clusters, and other features without worrying about immediate costs.

 3. Billing and Trial Period: It’s important to note that this isn’t exactly a traditional free trial period where you’re billed afterwards unless you cancel. Instead, you’re given a credit amount ($200 in this case) to use. You won’t be charged until you’ve used up this credit or if your usage exceeds this amount or if the credits expire.

 4. Duration of Credits: The promotional credits come with a validity period (60 days). Be sure to check the specific terms of the offer when you sign up.

 5. No Refund Required: Since you are using the credit provided, there’s no need to request a refund. You’ll only start incurring charges once you’ve used up the free credit, or after the validity period ends, whichever comes first.

 6. Payment Information: You might still need to provide payment information when you sign up, but this is standard procedure for most cloud service providers. Your payment method will not be charged until your free credits are Depleted or expired.

This particular offer is a great way to get familiar with DigitalOcean’s platform and services without an upfront investment.

Best,

Bobby

That’s correct you get an automatic credit for $1.25 which is the equivalent of using a 512MB virtual server for free for almost an entire week before you incur any charges to your account.

If you aren’t satisfied just destroy the virtual server before that time is up and your account will have no charges against it.

Once you signed up, you’ll receive a free 1,25 $ balance. You may use this to test the servers. Once your trial is over, all servers are beeing deleted.
