Any other way to open a vpn?

Posted on October 1, 2014

I opened a vpn yesterday and seems working well, the only problem is that vpn seems to be blocked by our school so I cannot connect to my vpn using the school network while other network other than this works properly. However, programs like proxpn can work even with the blocked network. Is there any better ways other than pptp to setup vpn with out any restrict? If so, can I have some detailed steps?

Thanks

Install OpenVPN on your server, by using a tutorial like this one: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-openvpn-access-server-on-ubuntu-12-04

And then install the OpenVPN client on your phone and laptop to connect to it.

Most firewalls block things like that by looking at the port, so I suggest configuring OpenVPN to listen on a common port such as 443 (HTTPS) or 53 (DNS) and trying to connect to it then.
