Apache and Wordpress configuration for multiple domains

Posted April 19, 2013 5.1k views
After reading the article about how to configure an apache virtual host for each domain you wish to host as well as the article on how Wordpress supports multiple blogs, its still not clear precisely what I need to do. However, I could not find anything that helps me put these two pieces of information together such that I understand how to set up two separate blogs using a single wordpress install that are accessed with two separate domain names. For example, I have two domains, and and want to have wordpress host a separate blog for each with a single installation of wordpress. I apologize if this is a rather simple question for experienced users but since I'm just starting out I really want to learn how to do this in the best and most efficient way. If anyone can point me in the right direction regarding how I can accomplish this, step by step if possible, I would greatly appreciate it.

In 2010, WordPress released version 3.0 of its popular content management platform. Among the many improvements included in the release, the WordPress community combined WordPress MU into the main WordPress configuration. Since the change, WordPress has made it easier to create multiple WordPress sites on one server.
I'm stuck at the instructions to edit the directory definition in the /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/ stage - as the file using the Wordpress/Ubuntu 12.10 droplet just has two VirtualHost definitions in the file, no directory to override.

Whatever combination I try, the database gets very lost - until I comment things back again.

It's the last but one comment to the article - sitting there unloved for 2 days now :-)
