Are private networks (not just private interface) in the roadmap?

I would like to know if there are any plans to add the possibility to have private networks in DO. With private networks I don’t mean just traffic between instances through a private interface (which is great) but also that communication between the instances of that network are fully isolated from any other instance of different users.

Hi there,

I just came across this question and decided to post a small update here in case that anyone else comes across this in 2020.

I would recommend considering the new DigitalOcean VPC networks.

VPC networks are completely isolated from both other customers and other VPCs on your own account. See here for more details:

It’s also worth pointing out that DigitalOcean private networks provided account level isolation since July 18, 2018. The big changes with the release of VPCs are:

  • You can create multiple VPCs that are isolated from each other
  • You can define the IP range for your VPCs yourself

We have a lot of interesting stuff coming up later this year around networking! Some of it will be behind the scenes, but it is going to open up a lot of new possibilities for user-facing features. This is definitely one of the features we are evaluating. I can’t get into too many details at this point, but you can show support and get updates by voting for this request on our UserVoice page.
