Cannot Ping To/From Droplet Public IP

I am unable to ping the public IP for my droplet from my local machine. I receive a “Request timed out.” error. This is a droplet that was previously reachable, but only recently cannot be accessed.

If I attempt to ping from the droplet console to another domain I receive a “Temporary failure in name resolution” error.

I see a number of similar questions. It appears that it could be a firewall issue, but I have been unable to resolve.

I’ve disabled UFW and attempted to edit the nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf, but the issue persists.

Hi @rick,

Try and restart your network service. See if it loads up and if it doesn’t check the journal to see what’s going on.

At the end if there is a misconfiguration with your network, like Gateway, Netmask or something similar, it will be best to contact DigitalOcean about the issue. Having said that, first try to restart your network service, see the error. If you are not sure about the error, you can always post it here and we in the community will try to help out.

Oh, the link to the DigitalOcean support is:
