When you create a new droplet without an SSH key, we email you the password for the “root” account on the system. Before you can use this for SFTP, you need to log in over SSH or console. The password we emailed you is immediately set to expire, forcing you to set a new one so that you do not have a plain text record of your root password. The prompt to do this cannot be passed through to an FTP client.
