DNS Ubuntu 16.04

Hi there

Sorry for the basic question, but I have searched google and I am still a little confused.

I have premium dns with namecheap.

I have added two A records in my namecheap dns managemnet

one is @ my ip address and automatic
the other is * my ip address automatic

Is that all I need to add here?
Do I still add the ns1.digitalocean nameservers aswell

Should I just scrap the premium dns and use digital ocean dns?

My domain is a .co.uk
I will be installing lets encrypt so do i also need to add more a records or cnames ect?

Sorry for the many ?

Thanks in advance

Colin

I'd go with cloudflare's dns if i had to choose. It's free and one of the fastest out there.

  • Thanks for the reply

I am only targeting uk so cloudflare dns and cdn is not really needed.

Is the 2 a records all that’s needed?

    • You'll probably need a cname for www-> domain.com as well(depends on your webserver configs but it's usually a good thing to have).

You could always skip the cdn part of cloudflare(the yellowish cloud?). I use multiple registrars and cloudflare helps me keep all domains in one place. Namecheap's premium dns is good enough if you're only using namecheap for your domains.

If you are only looking to add records for the website you need to add a CNAME record as well.

www IN CNAME domain.co.uk.

You can always check the records propagation on https://dnschecker.org/

Thanks for the advice

So it's just 2 a records an a cname?

Thanks again
