I have backups turned on and just wondering if this consumes the disk space or is it stored on another server?

All backups are stored on separate NAS servers and do not account against your disk space usage.
Hello,
As per kamaln7’s reply, the DigitalOcean backups are stored on separate NAS servers and do not account for your disk space usage. However, if you perform local backups on your droplet via bash script for example this will consume the disk space on your droplet.
Regards, Alex
