From here, DO doesn’t support nested KVM now, but I test it in my ubuntu instance:
root@ubuntu-512mb-sgp1-01:~/qlcloud# kvm-ok
INFO: /dev/kvm exists
KVM acceleration can be used
It seems DO support nested KVM now.
Do I misunderstand anything?
BTW:
I run sysbench --test=cpu --cpu-max-prime=20000 run:
my DO instance: execution time (avg/stddev): 35.1501/0.00
VM which hosted by the DO instance: execution time (avg/stddev): 37.7112/0.00
The fact which DO support nested KVM seems confirmed by that performance…

It may be possible but it is not a planned or supported feature. In general nested virtualization provides poor performance and is not recommended. I do know that solutions like virtualbox will function on a droplet but again with poor performance.
