Question

Does having a GUI interface on a droplet reduces performance significantly?

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-and-configure-vnc-on-ubuntu-16-04

With this tutorial ^^^ in mind where it teaches how to obtain a GUI for your droplet, the question is written in the title.

I like GUI’s and do not enjoy having to do everything from the terminal, specially copying files over other folders having to type the entire path structure (ugh).

Will the performance drop kill the benefits of a GUI?

Yes, installing an additional piece of software will affect performance. This will vary on the software and services you install. The easiest thing to do is use ssh / sftp for file transfer. It’s just about getting comfortable with it. Installation of additional services that allow internet access is also going to leave more open security holes.
