ElasticEmail SMTP sending much slower than Mandrill was

Posted on July 4, 2016

Hi,

I’ve got a couple of membership sites on VPSs with DO - these are running custom built sites using PHPMailer/Sendmail

We previously were using Mandrill for 3rd SMTP email sending but since they dropped transactional sending we moved over to ElasticEmail.

Using Mandrill SMTP was lightnig fast in dispatching emails to them yet ElasticEmail is painfully slow for some reason.

ElasticEmail is telling us there shouldn’t be a problem.

Has anyone else here had any issues using ElasticEmail with DO VPS servers? We are at a loss as to where to start looking for the cause of this, to be honest.

Any help greatly appreciated. Martin

The same with me, the speed of ElasticEmail is slowest comparing sendgrid, amazon aws ses, mandrill,… which services I used.

Asking support? Nothing help,

I have not used ElasticEmail for my own projects. When Mandrill changed recently I switched to SendGrid and have not seen any issues with send or delivery speed.

Are you seeing slow responses to your SMTP requests or slow delivery of the email after it is sent?

Hi Ryan

Thanks for the reply

We’re concerned by the slow responses to the SMTP requests.

Any clues or thoughts as to where to start looking? Thanks again Martin
