Error "Connection to IMAP server failed" with VirtualMin

 • Posted September 7, 2013

Hi all,

I installed VirtualMin on a VPS running Ubuntu. Then I installed RoundCube using script on VirtualMin. I created a new one Email account (Edit Users -> Add a user to this server) and enabled IMAP client (Enable mail client autoconfiguration? = Yes).

But when I log into email accounts with RoundCube the error: “Connection to IMAP server failed”. I’ve used Thunderbird but it also connects error.

How fix it? Please help me.

Thanks, Thanh

Solved the error in the Postfix too by learning how to configure by watching this video:-

Before installing SSL all my emails sent to Google had a “Open Red Lock Shaped Icon” warning with them. After installing an SSL certificate and following your advice all my emails are clean. Now I have a my own mass mailing server with no restrictions at all.

Thanks @Pantcho

I had this problem for over a month. Would try to find solutions every now and then. And after a more than a month it gets solved by this advice. I am so happy that I too don’t care if its insecure. At least I am a step further.

Now am getting a another error while sending an email:- “SMTP Error (-1): Connection to server failed.”

Hope not another month goes by now…

Try to “Dovecot IMAP/POP3 Server” section clicking on “Networking and Protocols” and on the right switch off the “Accept SSL connections?”

i don’t know how much unsecure this is but for me it worked.

Hi,

Can you describe it more clearly is not? How can I check it?
In the Webmin menu is “Dovecot IMAP/POP3 Server” and “Postfix Mail Server”.

Thanks,
Thanh

Check Webmin to make sure you have an IMAP module installed.
