Question

ftp filezilla problem

  • Posted July 5, 2013

Hi, I have created newuser, I have installed vsftpd as mentioned in (https://www.digitalocean.com/community/articles/how-to-set-up-vsftpd-on-centos-6--2) – I am able to login via shell ->ftp domain.com using newuser

But I am not able to login through filezilla using the newuser. What I am missing?

Thanks for help in advance

Hi, I can´t connect from Filezilla since the droplet migration. I´ve reset my password, and still can´t connect. “Authentication failed” error message. I can log in with the new password to DO, but not trough Filezilla SFTP.

Thanks for any help.

Pedro

@dharmik.vvyas: zPanel has to be installed on a fresh new droplet, zPanel probably uses another FTP server and vsftpd is conflicting with it.

Hello, I have same problem right now. <br>I have created vsftp first, and then installed zpanel and domain is ready now, it says change index.html to change domain page (zpanel official message), Now I am not sure where is that page exactly and using my ftp created from vsftp is not showing anyhing, it shows /var/www/ folder. I have created ftp user from zpanel and I am not able to login with that ftp.

Are you using zPanel? If yes, you should use zpanel’s built it tools and not follow external guides as zpanel edit software’s configuration and makes it hard to revert them to their original state.

“550 Failed to change directory” <br>Failed to retrieve directory listing <br> <br>I am not able to browse. nor able to go to /var/www/ <br>I root I am able to see only this file “epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm” and nothing else.

Try typing /home/yourusername/ in Filezilla’s address bar and press enter, do you see your files?

I tried logging in with hostname as the IP address and it worked but I am not able to browse the directories. <br>It only shows the root directory. ‘/’

I am using the same username/password for filezilla but it is giving error “Network error: Connection refused <br>”. <br>Using the same password I am able to login into ftp through ssh. <br>While I have different hosting too… and I am able to connect them through filezilla…

Try using the same username/password credentials for Filezilla (port 22, protocol SFTP).

I could not understand your point, but I am able to login into ssh through putty and trying other things. <br>When I give sudo “service sshd start” it did not gave any output nor error <br> <br>Thanks <br>

Can you SSH into your droplet? Is sshd running? “service sshd start”
