Getting more core ?

 • Posted April 12, 2013

Is there a way to get the best of both worlds ? More core and memory ?

I am a student in programmation and would like to do things that will be cpu demanding like: coding/compiling on the dropplet, run things like opemERP etc…

Is there a way to either by 4 X 5$ dropplets and join them and/or get a 20$ one and pay for extra core(s)

I think the $40 package should have 3 cores… There’s a gap between the 20-80 (where I’m stuck) and another core would be nice…

Manging resources independently creates an unbalanced work load on the hypervisor which results in overall higher costs on custom plans.

That is one of the reasons why we don’t offer them, because while we could provide any config you specify it would actually cost you more than the base configs that we’ve priced out.

We are looking into bumping up some of the CPU cores associated with the smaller plans but this is still being looked into.

Customisable packages would be amazing. Right now I’m stuck in a bad situation, I need more CPU however I have no need for additional memory and not even a quarter of the HD space I already have. In order to get more power I would have to double my costs(40/host -> 80/host) and that’s just not realistic right now and as a result I may have to look at other options. Adding the ability to micromanage where you put your money would be a game changer.

Linode have 8x core but are double the price.
+1 The option to pay for more core would be great
