Hey edwinch,

If you receive an Abuse complaint you can always respond to Abuse@DigitalOcean.com and ask for more information. We typically this type of activity occur when a third party is able to gain access to your website aka “a compromise”.The most common types of exploitation are vulnerabilities in PHP, ASP or CGI code or the theft of your password via a “dictionary attack”.

If you are using any open-source applications such as Joomla, or Wordpress, we suggest checking to see if any security patches or updates are available. We also suggest that you run a spyware and virus check on the computer that you use to access this Droplet, as it could also be possible that malicious software on your system is responsible for the compromise.

Cheers,
