I followed the instructions on the digital ocean guide on how to set up wordpress on my server, but my menu on my dashboard was not working such as accessing the log in. I would click login and it would come up blank. After multiple attempts to fix it from info i found online, i just deleted the entire wordpress folder from my www/var/html… but wordpress is still in my home folder.
As confusing as this sounds… I am new to wordpress, and FTP and would like to know a solution to this problem. Thanks.

It may not be the exact answer on topic, but me being newbie found it easy to work with a Control Panel rather than open setup…
What I have done is, installed a control panel a clean installation of CentOS (you can use Ubuntu also)…
Paid Panels are cPanel and DirectAdmin where as I went with a free options, that is zPanel (now sentora)…
Once a panel is installed, it comes with all the web services you need… All now you have to do is login to the panel, add your domain then follow the WordPress installation guide… Like creating the Database via phpmyadmin or control panel database manager, editing the WordPress config file and start your setup…
Thanks :)
