How can i configure my domain to point to my digitalocean vps using different nameservers then ns1.digitalocean.com etc

Hi, i have a domain that now point to an ip using two nameservers. From the domain's control panel i can change the ip to be pointed, and i did it, replacing with my vps IP. Now what i had to do in digitalocean's control panel?? I would like to avoid having to use digitalocean's nameservers. Thank you!

If your domain is pointed at another set of nameservers and you have created an A record pointing to your droplet's IP address then you should be all set. Our nameservers are only used if you point your domain to them.

  • So, if my domain is xxxx.org, even if i will not use digitalocean's nameservers, this configuration is ok?

  • If your domain is not pointed to our nameservers you do not even need to have anything set up in the DNS section of our control panel. Only information from the nameservers associated with your domain is used to route requests for it.
