How quickly can I change a VPS's ip address if I need to do that?

Hi, I am in a stupid country inside fuxx firewall. I wanted to buy a VPS for doing VPN/proxy business. I am not sure how quickly can I change the server’s ip address once the ip address is blocked by the firewall. I need the answer in hours, for example 4 hours.

However much time it takes you to spin up a new droplet.

You can’t just change ip address, and why would you want to do that? spamming can cause account permanent suspension, not saying is the case but I see no real reason to change IP unless someone is doing something it shouldn’t.

Now you can create a new droplet with an image from your current one, that will grant you a new ip, also you can use a droplet from lets say NYC3 that has several IPV6 addresses, but you will still have one main ip address on your server that is used for outgoing traffic.

  • No, I won’t do spamming. I just wanted to provide VPN service. And I have to change server’s ip address when the China’s GFW blocked my server. GFW is anti human, but my service/business can survive/success only if my server can change its ip when it is blocked.

  • The problem in that case is they eventually will block not only your ip but the ip block of DO addresses, so no point in trying to change your ip, best option you have till they block everything from DO is to create an image from your droplet, create a new one from it and delete the old droplet, but again this is a temporal solution.

GFW is a big problem but no one you can solve permanently with small tricks.
