How to move LAMP droplet content to another LAMP droplet

I want to move the content of my 4VCPU droplet to a 1VCPU droplet.
I have a LAMP droplet (4CPU) with a working WordPress site and I would like to move its entire contents (with site) to another LAMP instance.
I do not think I need to move the actual LAMP installation (happy to be advised as to whether my assumption is correct).
I just want to move the SSL certificate and Word press site to the new droplet.

Hey, @Solertron

Yes that is correct, you simply move the WordPress files and the database itself to the new droplet. You can use FTP and FileZilla or rsync, scp to move the files over and then just dump the database and import it on the new server. If you’re not familiar with the process feel free to ask and I’ll be able to assist you further.

Let me know how it goes.

  • Thanks for the help. I will have a go with Filezilla. Don’t think I will have problems getting the files accross but once I have transferred everything importing might be a little tricky.
I think you are saying that I need to jump into MySql and import the Db - I just need to get familiar with the CLI approach to doing this:P
I’ll get onto this tomorrow and report back. Again, thanks
