I just disabled backups by mistake, how do I re-enable them?

I have a droplet with backups configured. I just clicked a button called “Disable Backups” by mistake, and want to re-enable them, but there is no such option. How do I do this?

Unfortunately, there is not currently a way to enable backups on an already running droplet, even if it previously had backups enabled. You could recreate it from a snapshot and enable backups when doing so.

  • This is a pretty serious bug.

The UI did not make it at all clear that once disabled, backups could never be resumed. To take down and re-image this machine now will be a significant effort.

  • Is there any option added now ? I mistakenly deleted the backup and not sure how to enable the backup again. Can anyone please look into this, we really need the backup to be enabled and is not in a situation to stop the droplet and recreate it, as its in production.

Is there any option added now? Can I re-enabled backups if I disabled them through the dashboard?
