DigitalOcean offers unmanaged hosting. That means that you get full root access to your VPS, but it also means you need to set it up yourself. So you need some know some Linux basics, or at least not be afraid to learn.

But you still need to be comfortable with providing on-going maintenance for your site. We try to be helpful, and we have tutorials on a wide range of topics. Though if you don't want to be a developer, hiring one might be your best bet.
We charge per hour, so you only pay for what you use. That makes it simple to spin up a server and test things out. When you're done you can just destroy.
