Question

It appears I have no idea what I'm doing...

  • Posted June 17, 2014

I’m not a developer, I just own and operate my Wordpress site. (http://missmaven.com) Can I go about implementing a droplet on my own or should I get a developer to do this for me? The reason I’m here is to support higher traffic volume. Thanks in advance!

Hi Teni, If you need someone to setup it for you (eg, manage it for you), feel free to skype me: “avivronen”, can provide manage services as needed.

DigitalOcean offers unmanaged hosting. That means that you get full root access to your VPS, but it also means you need to set it up yourself. So you need some know some Linux basics, or at least not be afraid to learn.

There’s a one-click install for Wordpress that would get you up and running fast:

But you still need to be comfortable with providing on-going maintenance for your site. We try to be helpful, and we have tutorials on a wide range of topics. Though if you don’t want to be a developer, hiring one might be your best bet.

We charge per hour, so you only pay for what you use. That makes it simple to spin up a server and test things out. When you’re done you can just destroy.
