After I login as root:password (which was given in the email) it requires me to change the password immediately after login. When I type a new password, the console access box just refreshes and the password doesn’t take.
How do I fix this?

Use Desktop version…
Terminal in your mac or linux, in case of Windows, use Putty :)
I am using Putty on Windows and I have the same problem :-(
