Do you see any errors in your web console after pasting the gif? Usually, an image or a gif would not load directly on a page if there is mixed content, meaning that your website uses HTTPS but the image or the gif that you are trying to load uses HTTP.
If this is not the case, have you tried using a component like this one that would allow you to embed gifs?
