Question
Nameservers Recursive queries
Hi,
I have pretty simple DNS configuration, all done via DigitalOcean’s web UI.
No playing with any configuration on the server itself, yet www.intoDNS.com reports that I have recursive queries issue:
I could use the nameservers listed below to performe recursive queries. It may be that I am wrong but the chances of that are low. You should not have nameservers that allow recursive queries as this will allow almost anyone to use your nameservers and can cause problems. Problem record(s) are:
173.245.58.51
173.245.59.41
198.41.222.173
Is there anything I’ve done wrong?
Also, on the root DNS page, I can see both my domains listed, yet only one “PTR Record”. Don’t know how to add another one.. Should I worry about this PTR?
Thank you.

Hi,
you can have only one PTR record per droplet. DigitalOcean sets this record from the hostname of your droplet automatically.
Your DNS records seem OK to me.
I just yesterday (>24 hrs ago, but only just) setup DNS using my DO control panel and intoDNS is also reporting recursive queries:
But two other testing tools are not reporting recursive queries:
and
Although each service has some warnings about “Bad glue” and “serial numbers”.
I certainly don’t know enough about DNS to know if any of this is a problem, but I’ll keep an eye on it.
