Outgoing connections on port 25 are blocked?

Outgoing connections on port 25 over IPV4 are blocked? I’m trying to connect to external SMTP server and all times connection is going to timeout.

interspire.smtp.com:25 is not responding.

smtp.gmail.com:587 is not responding.

smtp.gmail.com:465 is not responding.

pop.gmail.com:995 is not responding.

email-smtp.us-east-1.amazonaws.com:465 is not responding.

relay.dnsexit.com:25 is not responding.

mail.authsmtp.com:25 is not responding.

From what I understand you may need to raise a ticket with Digital ocean. Some IP’s / VPS can be blocked. ( From what I have seen )

Also, check your outgoing iptables / firewall rules to be sure you are not blocking it yourself.

Hello all,

It is possible that port 25 is closed for new accounts. This is something we have been doing to reduce spam on our network. Please do not think that we are accusing you of sending spam, it is more that we simply cannot accurately determine who is going to send it.

Stopping spam is a constant fight, so we have implemented some restrictions on newer accounts. To qualify for the ability to send out email, we do require accounts to wait 60 days before we can look into removing the restriction. Once your account has reached 60 days of stable use, please do reach back out to us so we can look into this for you.

You can use a service like https://smtpfa.st/, SendGrid, Mailgun, or Postmark, much better for deliverability anyway. They allow SMTP over API, which is a good workaround and better for performance too.

Honestly the API route is usually the better option anyway, it is more reliable deliverability and you don’t have to worry about your IP getting blacklisted.
