When I attempt to reset the root password I am only asked once so I can’t login via console.
Any ideas willingly accepted.

Hello, @mandrews

I assume that you’ve checked our tutorial on how to regain access to your droplet:

If you click the Reset Root Passwordit will send you an email to the address associated with your DigitalOcean account. You can use the password provided to log in to your Droplet through the console.

This should work for you and if not let me know.

  • Hi tanks for the response.

The problem is not the resetting but when I enter the new password it only asks for it once not twice. Hence the title of the question.
“When I attempt to reset the root password I am only asked once so I can’t login via console.”

I have also deleted the droplet and created anew one but I was never sent an email after I created the second droplet.

    • Hello, @mandrews

      Thanks for confirming this.

You’ve mentioned that you’ve delete the droplet and you’ve created a new one and you still haven’t received an email for it. You can double check your SPAM/Trash folders and maybe wait a little bit longer as there might be a slight delay in the mail delivery.

As for the original issue, if this happens again you can contact our amazing support team and they will check this for you.

If you’re still having issues when trying to access the newly created droplet let me know.

I checked the spam folder even though Digital Ocean email always comes to my inbox.

I just checked the history and it indicates that I created it about 6 hours ago.

It’s 1:00AM here so I might call it a night and try again tomorrow.

Thanks for your input Alex.

You’re most welcome. Please let me know how it goes.

    • Hi @alexdo

I’m having the same issue. Trying to regain access to the droplet after enabling ufw but can’t seem to be able to reset the password because the virtual console only asks for it once.

Afterwards, any attempt to login say it’s invalid. Any thoughts on how to solve this?

      • Hello, @makemisteaks

When you access the console you need to enter the username you want to login and this will be root and then you can enter the root password!

Let me know how it goes!
