Service Reseller, good practices

Posted on January 3, 2015

Hi everyone: An expert who could explain roughly as mounting a reseller hosting in DigitalOcean. I had a concern if we develop systems inventory, invoicing all full web, just our registered DigitalOcean user and create a dropets and within it be creating subdomains for each application will be bad practice example: my company is called: www .sistweb.com -> have it distributed as follows: www.invent.sistweb.com, www.factu.sistweb.com, etc. … And that each client log in with your username and password. This same domain (sistweb) I could serve to give the reseller hosting service and also the services of web systems at once, or would saturate the server too, I mean EVERYTHING with a single droplets … Thanks

This depends on what you’re reselling. If you are providing shared hosting services, a couple decent droplets running cPanel and connected to a WHMCS instance basically gives you a turnkey provider with billing, plan management and everything.

If you want to resell droplets and give your users full access to their new servers you may have to do some custom coding. WHMCS does provide a plugin that will allow you to resell droplets but I have not used it personally.

As far as using a subdomain. In the past this was a pretty common method but it is less so these days as people will want to use their own domain name. Many services no longer offer a subdomain option and now require you to bring your own domain name. Either method will function as expected.
