Set up email accounts with my domain

Posted August 9, 2013 19.7k views
How do I setup an email account with the domain that I own? I have absolutely no idea, I would like to know the easiest way, and I don't mind if I can send e-mail via Gmail for example. I have the domain pointed to my server IP, what else do I need to do?

Here we'll show you how to create a SPF record for your domain with Google Apps.
The "easiest way" would probably be outsourcing your e-mail to a 3rd-party provider, e.g. Google Apps ($5/mo.) or Exchange Online ($4/mo.).

If you would like to create your own online e-mail system, you can use iRedMail. In this article we will explain how you can do it on your Ubuntu 12.04 virtual server.
I had a go at installing iRedMail, and everything works great. The only thing is that there's a SSL error, and I can't figure out how to do that properly
@212nath: What's the error?
Well it says it is encrypted, however when anyone tries to login it shows a red error page saying to proceed with caution, because the identity of the server isn't verified
It's because the SSL certificate is self-signed. If you want to get rid of that warning, you will have to purchase a certificate from a trusted CA such as Comodo.
