Hi, i wanted to register and spin up a word press site … i chose digital ocean after comparing it with other providers regarding the quality and the price … but once i started to create a droplet with word press, it told me that i need 30Gb disk at least … which mean i should go with the higher plan (10$). i have seen all the tutorials on the internet with the same word press and ubuntu and with the 5$ plan, and i have made my decision based on that price. i think you should either clearly explain the restrictions or provide us at least with an option to increase the Hard disk capacity without going the full 10$ plan. thanks,

We recently disabled the ability to create WordPress droplets on the 512MB plan from the control panel because these droplets had a tendency for the MySQL process to exhaust the available RAM and crash. You can still host WordPress on a 512MB droplet but you’ll need to take a couple extra steps.
1.) Create a 512MB Ubuntu 14.04 droplet and paste this script into the user-data field. This script will take care of installing all the necessary packages and set up WordPress on your droplet just as the application image would.
2.) Set up a swap file on your droplet. This will help to prevent MySQL crashes due to a lack of memory.
Once you follow these two steps you’ll have a 512MB WordPress droplet ready to go.
I can confirm that 512mb is more than enough for running wordpress, but you should:
