Singapore routing to Japan

Are there plans to increase the number of peering arrangements in Singapore? Right now routing to Japan is much worse than California: traceroute to speedtest.tokyo.linode.com (106.187.96.148), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets 1 128.199.255.254 (128.199.255.254) 1.640 ms 1.137 ms 1.580 ms 2 103.253.144.237 (103.253.144.237) 1.004 ms 1.363 ms 1.546 ms 3 10ge-v107-mad-prov-ixn.airenetworks.es (62.115.40.169) 1.563 ms 1.904 ms 1.766 ms 4 hnk-b2-link.telia.net (80.91.245.151) 46.156 ms hnk-b2-link.telia.net (213.155.136.118) 34.244 ms hnk-b2-link.telia.net (80.91.245.151) 46.117 ms 5 las-bb1-link.telia.net (213.155.136.44) 202.166 ms 196.946 ms las-bb1-link.telia.net (213.155.134.194) 181.090 ms 6 ae8.edge1.LosAngeles.Level3.net (4.68.70.129) 186.322 ms 193.170 ms 202.002 ms 7 ae-2-70.edge2.LosAngeles9.Level3.net (4.69.144.79) 193.494 ms ae-3-80.edge2.LosAngeles9.Level3.net (4.69.144.143) 195.223 ms ae-4-90.edge2.LosAngeles9.Level3.net (4.69.144.207) 195.971 ms 8 4.53.230.102 (4.53.230.102) 190.092 ms 195.877 ms 194.456 ms 9 lajbb001.int-gw.kddi.ne.jp (59.128.2.41) 186.601 ms lajbb002.int-gw.kddi.ne.jp (59.128.2.37) 244.399 ms lajbb002.int-gw.kddi.ne.jp (59.128.2.45) 177.396 ms 10 otejbb205.int-gw.kddi.ne.jp (203.181.100.17) 310.884 ms 310.878 ms otejbb205.int-gw.kddi.ne.jp (203.181.100.13) 302.727 ms 11 cm-fcu203.kddnet.ad.jp (124.215.194.164) 306.805 ms cm-fcu203.kddnet.ad.jp (124.215.194.180) 291.733 ms 288.478 ms 12 124.215.199.122 (124.215.199.122) 302.085 ms 281.135 ms 323.150 ms 13 speedtest.tokyo.linode.com (106.187.96.148) 296.480 ms 278.442 ms 278.922 ms

Please open a ticket so we can ask you some more questions and see what we can fix up right away.

We also have some peering installs that were delayed so if we can't help, we should be able to get it better in a couple weeks.
I just tested both Data centers San Francisco and Singapore and found the closer to me in Japan is San Francisco, which is weird...

I think I will stay put since things work well over there...
I'll wait. It sounds like Singapore is new and you're just getting things settled in there. But traceroute to some sites in Japan and see what I mean. Japan is physically much closer to Singapore than California so it should be faster. In many cases it actually goes to California and back, or to Australia and back. Weird.

Pings to China and Thailand from Singapore seem good though. Haven't tried South Korea.
