Subdomains through registrar or DigitalOcean?

December 7, 2013 1.4k views
I have my domain registered through 1&1. If I want to create a subdomain (i.e., do I need to add "test" in my 1&1 dns settings area or do I do it through DigitalOcean? Or do I need to create the subdomains in both places?

Once you've added to the DNS Manager, you can proceed to creating the subdomain DNS record:
Type: A

Name: test

where is your droplet's IP address.
This article explains how to manage your DNS records using the DigitalOcean Control Panel and can help you decide if DigitalOcean's DNS management tools are right for your situation.
