Question

Unable to access email

  • Posted December 22, 2013

Just set up an email system using Postfix, Dovecot and MySQL. That part seems ok. The only part I’m having problems with, is accessing email using a desktop email client or by webmail.

I can log into the server and send email from the command line. I can even see that emails are being received.

Obviously something’s not right, but I have no idea why. There’s nothing in the logs that tell me anything.

Any clues?

My bad, I meant MySQL. The article is written for Postgres, try following it w/ Postgres on a new droplet and see if that works.

No, the email folders are in /var/mail/vhosts/. <br> <br>And I used MySQL, not Postgres.

<blockquote>Log in to the server and navigate to the email accounts folders</blockquote> <br>Do you mean <code>/var/spool/mail</code>? If so, it means that Postfix is not using Postgres, therefore there must be something wrong with your config.

Log in to the server and navigate to the email accounts folders for the domains and view them.

@Pablo, <br> <br>There is a firewall, but the mail-related ports are open.

Not exactly. <br> <br>Used http://ur1.ca/g8p27 and http://ur1.ca/g8p2d, but instead of using Postgres, modified it to use MySQL.

Is there a firewall in the way?
