Unable to establish SFTP connection with root user

Posted on November 3, 2014

Hello, i just done system upgrade from Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04 and cannot login anymore with my root user via terminal on my PC or FTP client. The weird part is that i can open the terminal from my bucket --> console access in my account here but not from anywhere else. I’m sure port 22 is allowed in the iptables list and try to search in Google but didn’t find any results.

Regards,

The auth.log after the last attempt to connect unsuccessfully is below:

pam_unix(sshd:auth): authentication failure; logname uid=0 euid=0 tty=ssh ruser= rhost=11.22.333.4444 user=root sshd[17601]: Failed password for root from 11.22.333.4444 port 35595 ssh2

Adding to sshd_config “PermitRootLogin yes” and restarting the server doesn’t help me.

mhm, it appear after some time and many reboots of the system i have access to my site again… Thanks for all the help and if its possible the moderators of the Forum to mark this ticket as “Closed”.

Regards :)
