Userify SSH Key Manager in base distribution?

Posted on October 6, 2014

Is it possible to launch snapshots into the DO marketplace that would include the Userify SSH key manager? It’s a pretty small shim/agent (open source python).

Hi!

Userify looks interesting. We tend to try and stay close as possible to our upstreams when it comes to distribution defaults. So it’s unlikely that we’d include it on our base images. We use UserVoice to track feature requests and gauge user demand. You could open a request there and see if it generates some feedback.

It looks like you’ve found our metadata service. That’s a great way to run a script on startup. Another option would be to create a snapshot of a servicer with just the Userify agent installed, and use that as your base every time you launch a new droplet.
